Crocodile tears by the 'Democrat Dominatrix'
Local political writer and humorist Jim Schifrin has been calling political operative and failed politician Kathy Groob the "Democrat Dominatrix " for years in his newsletter.
No problem, no offense. In fact, Groob continued to supply Schifrin with gossip on the Northern Kentucky political scene.
She even joked about it in an email.
But last year, she went berserk after a neighbor made note of the Schifrin parody in an online posting during the Halloween season, even to the point of hiring an attorney to threaten the neighbor.
The neighbor was having none of it, knowing of the history of the long-running parody and Groob's continuing role as a source to the Schifrin newsletter.
Groob, in a revival of Richard Nixon, took matters into her own hands and had the neighbor investigated. Even launched a web site against him.
Kentucky political writer Jake Payne jumped into the fray in trying to explain Kathy Groob's bizarre behavior:
"Dear Kathy: You, yourself, have attacked people on the internet," Payne wrote at his Kentucky political blog. "You continually run for public office and maintain a highly visible public profile. And you think a discussion of facts relating to you -- along with the occasional parody or cartoon -- won't be fair game?"
"In my opinion, she's just one of the bitters who can't deal with accomplishing jack shiz politically in her old age. She's one, giant hypocrite," Payne wrote. [ Link ]
She should have laughed off the parody, but instead the thin-skinned (as Patrick Crowley said) political operative tried to bully the neighbor who dared to tease.
So vicious, so malicious was her response that five webhosting companies, including Wordpress (above image), dropped the site aimed against the neighbor because of its content.
Keep in mind that Groob is a powerless political busybody. But one has to wonder, through some miracle, what would happened if elected to office -- what Groob would do against people who rub her the wrong way? As I said, it's Richard Nixon all over again.
Unfortunately for Mrs. Groob, her efforts to get the neighbor failed, just as her own political campaigns have failed, and those of candidates she has supported for office as a political office. She must have a political curse. It only made her look foolish in the NKY political world and among people in Covington who know about it.
Just before Halloween 2010, Schifrin posted the "Kathy Groob Democrat Dominatrix" artwork once again. No word on what the mean-spirited and bitter Groob plans to do.
